Welding Rail Fixing Clip
Welded rail clips can be secured from the steel surface supporting the rail. This makes access requirements easier during construction and when the crane is running but undergoing maintenance.
Due to some types of compact designs, the clips can be used with cranes equipped with guide rollers. All clips are adjustable, but the number is consistent with structural engineering design practice. It is usually required to ensure that the centerline of the rail passes within the thickness of the web of the crane runway girder.
Rail clips for heavy duty application:
The largest crane rail clips can load 300 kN from the rail into one clip. This is because a lot of weld metal can be placed around the bottom of the clip. However, the novel design of the clip ensures that it is still fully adjustable for horizontal movement of the 20mm rail.
Kingrail Parts have welded base clips to fit all rail sizes, including some that are no longer routinely manufactured but still exist in some older applications. The size of any rail's clips is proportional to the rail it is designed to hold.
Kingrail Parts conducts extensive testing on the clips to ensure they will perform reliably and last a long time. This includes load testing of each model, as well as external third-party witness testing and fatigue testing in third-party labs.
Dimensions Welded rail clips are sized to provide a more secure fit, but bolted clips are often more convenient.
1. Find or estimate the horizontal force that the clip will withstand. Assume that all loads from one wheel will occur on one clip. If the load is unknown, it can be assumed to be 15% of the vertical wheel load.
2. Select the clip style you want - Bolted or Welded. Their respective advantages are identified in the table below.
3. Find out the size of the rail feet to be used.
4. Check that the selected clip is suitable for installation. This table gives the dimensions that must be added to the track foot width to provide the minimum support width.
5. Check that other clip sizes are suitable for the application. These only show a limited number of rail sections, Kingrail Parts can advise on other sections.
